William V. Suckow

William V. Suckow, 92, of Appleton, Minnesota died Tuesday, October 6 in Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Funeral services were Saturday, October 10 at 11 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Moyer Township, officiated by Pastor Michelle Rowell. Burial followed at the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
William Valentine Suckow was born February 14, 1923 in Moyer Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the son of William F. and Amelia (Buttenhoff) Suckow. William was baptized March 14, 1923 and was confirmed April 25, 1937 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Moyer Township. He was raised in the Holloway area and attended Moyer Township Country School through the eighth grade.
February 16, 1946 William was united in marriage to Lorna Grace Erdman, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfield Township. This union was blessed with over 68 years of marriage and five sons: DuWayne, Garland, Bradley, Eugene and William H. William was a life-long farmer. He and Lorna raised grain and livestock on their farm in Moyer Township. William was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Moyer Township, where he actively served in a variety of capacities throughout the years, including many years when he and Lorna were the janitors. William loved the Lord and found peace in reading his Bible every day. He was also a member of the Holloway Rod & Gun Club and the Over 50 Club. William enjoyed fishing, camping, and making homemade smoked sausage. In his later years, he found enjoyment in taking car rides in the country. Above all, William loved his family and especially enjoyed seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons: DuWayne (Joyce) Suckow of Appleton, Bradley (Jean) Suckow of Maynard, and William H. (Debra) Suckow of Holloway; daughter-in-law, Judy Suckow-Olson of Holloway; five grandchildren: Trevor Suckow, Tonia (David) Beck, Adam (Jana) Suckow, Alicia (Benito) Aguirre, Jacob (fiancé, Samantha) Suckow, ; seven great-grandchildren; four step-granddaughters, 12 step great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Erdman, Winifred Erdman, and Hazel Suckow; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Lorna, February 13, 2015; parents, William F. and Amelia Suckow; sons: Garland and Eugene Suckow; brothers: Ruben Suckow and baby boy Suckow; sister, Edna; brothers-in-law: Ambrose Erdman, Herman Erdman, and Marvin Erdman; sister-in-law, Valaria Mischke.
