Arthur Patrick Dolan

Arthur Patrick Dolan, age 93, of River Falls, Wisconsin passed away on July 7, 2017, at his farm home on the South Fork. Arthur (Art) was born May 14, 1924 in Six Mile Grove, Danvers, Minnesota, the youngest of 11 children born to Terrance Patrick and Ella Frances (Washburn) Dolan.

On June 29, 1950, he married Mary Ann Foley at Sacred Heart Church in Murdock, Minnesota. Art farmed in his home area until he and Mary Ann moved to River Falls in 1955, where he worked at AW Lund Company before beginning his 27-year career as a chemical production worker for 3M Company.

In 1965, Arthur moved his family from their house on Maple Street to the rural River Falls farm where he resided until his death. He was an exceptional farmer, horseman, herdsman, hunter and fisherman, was quick with a thoughtful comment, and wise in his advice. His depth of knowledge on all topics, his mechanical skills and his ability to repair seemingly irreparable items were legendary! While not a musician himself, Art loved music, and during his agile years, he was a spirited dancer. Regular trips to the family cabin on Deer Lake near Danbury, Wisconsin, added joy to his retirement years.

Art and Mary loved to travel and instilled that love in their children. They visited the “old country” of Ireland several times and toured much of Europe. Art especially loved the Western United States, taking many vacations in the Rockies, and, because of his love of horses, several trips to Calgary, Alberta to see his favorite sporting event (as recently as 2 years ago!): the Calgary Stampede chuckwagon races,

Arthur belonged to the St. Bridget Catholic Church community for more than 60 years, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and served as a Church usher for decades.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Mary Ann; four children: Coleen Mary (Gary) Lucachick of International Falls, MN; Mark Patrick (Adele) Dolan of Hudson, WI; Lucy Ann (Leon) Kamrowski of Holmen, WI; and Joseph William ( Karen) Dolan of

Eau Claire, WI; sixteen grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. Arthur was the youngest uncle of his many nieces and nephews and the last surviving link of his generation to his 10 siblings’ families.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his faithful farm companion, Ted, the collie.

A Funeral Service for Art will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in River Falls. A Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 11, 2017 the church.

O’Connell Benedict Family Funeral Homes and Trusted Cremation Provider will be assisting the family.

He was a man of little words but his actions always proved how deeply he loved those dear to him. He spent his life serving others and inspiring everyone whom crossed his path. He was a listener, a fixer, and a silent leader who always put others first. He had great one liners and a smile that could light up a room.
